About The Independent Living Company

Delivering participant-centric Specialist Disability Accommodation with integrity, transparency, and genuine care

Who We Are

Our Approach

As a privately run SDA provider, we remain hands-on, accessible, and deeply connected to the people and properties we support. Our size is our strength. It allows us to deliver personalised attention to every participant, family, client, and investor.

Our Foundation

We are guided by integrity, transparency, and genuine care. We take pride in building strong, lasting relationships across the SDA sector, grounded in trust and mutual respect. Our values shape everything we do. They are not just words. They are the foundation of how we operate and what sets us apart.

Our Values

Our values shape everything we do. They are not just words—they are the foundation of how we operate and what sets us apart in delivering exceptional SDA outcomes.

People

We respect and prioritise the people who live in our homes, along with their families and support networks. Ensuring choice and control is at the heart of everything we do.

Progress

We value innovative thinking, continuous learning, and adaptability. By improving our systems and knowledge, we maximise outcomes for participants and provide a higher standard of service.

Partners

We collaborate with organisations that share our values. This ensures consistent engagement, quality outcomes, and a reliable experience for the people who live in our homes.

Participation

We believe in staying connected at a local level—listening, engaging, and understanding the communities we operate in. This grassroots approach helps us create positive, independent living experiences.

Meet Our Team

Peter Dodd

Founder & Director

With over two decades of leadership experience in property, disability accommodation and service delivery, Peter Dodd founded The Independent Living Company (TILC) to deliver a fresh, participant-centric approach to Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA). Prior to launching TILC, Peter managed large commercial property portfolios, led complex lease negotiations, and implemented scalable systems to streamline operations across multiple assets.

His vision for TILC is grounded in:

  • Delivering high-quality homes that meet the needs of people with disability
  • Building transparent, collaborative partnerships with participants, support-coordinators and owners
  • Using lean, efficient systems that give autonomy to our on-the-ground team while ensuring compliance, safety and asset value

Peter holds a strong track record in establishing high-asset-standard dwellings, navigating SDA funding frameworks, and leading teams to deliver exceptional tenant outcomes.

Tahnee Finn

Property Manager

Tahnee is responsible for the day-to-day property management portfolio: coordinating maintenance, tenant liaison, and operational oversight. With a focus on smooth operations and high asset standards, Tahnee ensures that our properties are well-looked after, our tenants are supported, and our owners' investments are protected.

Rachael Rattigan

Tenant Coordinator and NDIS Specialist

Rachael works directly with participants, support-coordinators and SIL providers to manage funding preparation and occupancy. Her focus is on filling vacancies and ensuring participants have the correct funding for the homes they occupy. Through her role, Rachael builds relationships and works proactively to match tenants, support services and property outcomes.

Czarina Axalan

Operations Manager & Admin Support

Czarina oversees our back-office operations. She provides operational oversight and administrative support including document management, compliance record-keeping and internal process coordination. She plays a key role in ensuring seamless internal workflows, helping our front-line team operate cleanly and efficiently.

Semone van Tonder

Field Agent

Semone serves as our on-the-ground representative: conducting property inspections, supporting tenants locally, and liaising with SIL providers to maintain property standards and occupancy. Her presence strengthens our regional responsiveness and local service quality.
